Using the Adaptec Flash Utility
2 Create a bootable MS–DOS floppy diskette and copy the
following files to this diskette:
■ AFU.exe
■ AC2xx001.ufi
where 2xx0 is the model number of your controller.
3 Copy the remaining UFI files to additional diskettes.
Running the AFU
You can run the AFU from its graphical user interface (GUI) or from
the command line.
Accessing the AFU from the GUI
To access the AFU GUI:
1 At the DOS command prompt (typically A:\>), type AFU with
no arguments.
The main menu to the AFU GUI, which is self-explanatory, is
displayed.
2 Select Select Controllers and select the controller(s) to be
flashed.
3 Select Select an Operation.
4 Select any available AFU function and follow the on-screen
instructions.
Accessing the AFU from the Command Line
At the DOS command prompt (typically A:\>), enter the command
AFU followed by a command keyword and any optional switches.
The AFU processes your command with no further interaction

and
then exits with the status “success” or a specific error message code.
The syntax of the AFU command line is as follows:
AFU <Command> [/C<Controller ID>] [/D <UFI File Path>] [/?]
In this command line:

The AFU will prompt you to insert additional floppy diskettes as required.
