Windows NT and Windows 2000
In both Windows NT and Windows 2000 it is unnecessary to lock your CD-ROM drive to a
specific letter. There is a feature in these operating systems that disallows peripherals from
jumping around drive letter to drive letter.
Macintosh OS 8.x and 9.x
This step is unnecessary for Macintosh installations, for the reason that Macintosh does not use
a drive lettering convention to differentiate CD/DVD-ROM drives.
